We are Barry and Catherine Cohen.In 2003 we created Premier Barter to help businesses utilize a great tool for their business that we had been introduced to a few years before. The tool was bartering.

In 1999, both of us joined a barter exchange with our respective businesses. We used our barter dollars to improve our businesses and bring us new cash clients. We were able to advertise, create legal documents, print our collateral materials, and more. We also used barter dollars to improve our personal lives with dental work, vacations, dinners out, and auto repairs.

We knew that bartering could help many small businesses grow like it helped ours. But we wanted to expand on our barter experience and make it even better.

• Find a way to barter seamlessly with members of other local and national barter exchanges so our members had more places to spend barter dollars.
• Find a way to let members search for their own products or services online in real time.
• Foster a mutual respect between members and not have price gouging.
• Treat all members the same no matter what their level of bartering business.
• Give members guidance on how to barter.
• Keep most members visible in the directory where they can easily be seen and used by other members.
• No printed directory which becomes obsolete before it is printed. Have a real-time online directory instead.
• Service the members above all else. Return calls and emails promptly.

So with these goals in mind, we set about to create a barter company that was different and better than what we had experienced. Barter is a tool that, when used properly, can greatly improve your business and your lifestyle. Our goal is to help our members use bartering to gain the greatest advantage over their competition and to increase their cash profits.

Premier Barter members can trade with thousands of other barter members throughout the US, Canada and the world. We've created a system with dollar value equity. We coach each member in using bartering to the best advantage of his or her individual company. Premier Barter treats its members with the respect expected in a business to business relationship. We take pride in the positive feedback we receive from our members and our colleagues.

We are a very unique business couple. Both sets of parents were small business owners. We grew up in households very different from our friends. Each family business – a retail shoe store and an accounting practice, was incorporated into everyday family life. Early on, each of us understood what it meant to be an entrepreneur. And we bring that perspective to our business. So we can better understand what your business means to you.
